The second Hot Rods for Veterans Cruise & Show is in the books. We had great weather for our October 26, 2019 event. 81 Hot Rods showed up to support our Veterans. The day started with a 100-mile Cruise that traveled through Ft Bragg and out to Carthage NC where we had lunch at Pik-N-Pig before heading to the Fayetteville Veterans Home for an afternoon car show.
We were able to raise $3,735.71 towards the purchase of a Wheelchair Accessible Swing for the Veterans at the home.
We do not have a date for our next Fayetteville Veterans Home Cruise & Show as of yet. Watch our Face Book page for updates on our next Cruise & Show.
Our Trophy selection is unique in that the actual Veterans from the Veterans Home select the winners. There are no classes, the judges are free to select the car that touches their heart that day. It could be the color, type of vehicle based on his or her experiences, or whatever they feel is the best Hot Rod. The owners of the awarded Hot Rods can leave our event knowing that they made a special difference to a Veteran Saturday. What an honor this is.
For our Fayetteville Veterans Home Cruise & Show, the Veterans Choice winners are:
Army Veterans Choice Award: Mark Sturdevant representing RTP Corvettes with his 2009 Corvette
Navy Veterans Choice Award: Mark Wheeler representing the Piedmont Classic Chevy Club with his 1985 El Camino
Air Force Veterans Choice Award: Steven Campbell representing the Sandhills Mustang Club with his 1989 Ford Mustang
Marine Corp Veterans Choice Award: Heather Shew representing the 5th Gen Camaros of the Carolinas with her 2011 Camaro
The Car Club Participation Award went to RTP Corvettes.
Thanks again to everyone who came out to make this a successful event.
